Fireman Rob Running the Walt Disney World Marathon for BGCCF
Robert Verhelst, better known as Fireman Rob, is headed to Central Florida to run the 2025 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in support of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.
Rob, an Air Force Veteran and career firefighter who supported search and recovery after the 9/11 tragedy, has made it his life mission to inspire others to “live your passion.” One of the ways he accomplishes this is by partnering with nonprofits across the nation to run marathons and triathlons — all while wearing 35 lbs of full firefighter gear.

This January, he’ll be representing Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida at the much-anticipated runDisney race, continuing his inspiring athletic journey. Fireman Rob lives by the motto“Your strength is in your passion,” and he will be taking on the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon — all in his fire gear — to inspire those around him.

When asked why Fireman Rob chose to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida for this event, he stated, “I’ve always believed in using my platform and passion to make a difference, and there’s no better way to do that than by supporting an incredible organization like Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. I chose to run the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida because it’s a way to inspire and support the next generation. Their programs change lives, fostering confidence, leadership, and hope. Every step I take is for the kids, proving that together, we can make magic happen.”
