Volunteering FAQ

What are your opportunities?

We have a multitude of volunteer opportunities available for corporate and civic groups as well as individual volunteers looking to make a difference in the lives of our Club Members.

Interested in learning more about upcoming events, please email us at EverydayHero@bgccf.org

Do I need a Level II Background check and how long does this process take

For the safety and well-being of the children we serve, all ongoing volunteers are required to complete a Level II Background Check Request Form. During this process, our HR Team will verify whether you have a valid background check on file with the Department of Children and Families.

If your fingerprints are already on record, no additional fingerprinting will be needed. If not, our team will schedule a fingerprinting appointment using the information provided on your form.

If you have any additional questions about this process, please contact our team at everydayhero@bgccf.org

How long does my background check last?

Your Level II background check will remain valid for 5 years.

Is there a minimum number of hours required to qualify for community service?

Yes. Community service volunteers are asked to serve a minimum of 4 hours. If you plan to volunteer for more than one day, an Ongoing Volunteer Application will be required to ensure a safe and positive experience for all Club members.

What are the minimum age requirements for community service hours?

If you’re a minor, the minimum age required is 12 years old. More community service-related details below.

Do you accept hours for higher education course credit requirements?

Yes. However, an ongoing volunteer application will be required to ensure a safe and positive experience for all Club members.

Do you accept court-ordered community service hours?

Yes. For adults, you can only serve your hours at our Thrift Store. Volunteer applicants with criminal records including illegal drug offenses, violence, violence against children, sex offenses and weapons charges will not be accepted. Only minor, non-violent offenses, traffic, and DUI charges will be accepted.

For minors, the Service Director at your chosen Club will decide on a case-by-case basis. Please find your local Club here.
